Every year seems to get better and better and even bigger.  Needless to say, 2013 has been a great year!  We're thankful for the tremendous amount of support that we've received from the community and friends that believe in us and in our mission.  That being said, the end of the year is approaching and we are gearing up for our final "Hike" of the year.  The Walk Off The Turkey Hike!

Hike4Life likes to finish off the year in style and with a huge crowd of Hike4Lifers to send the year off with a bang.  We will once again be partnering up with the Mass Audubon Society and will have a short meet-up in the auditorium at the Trailside Museum. The Coffee Queen, will be on hand with delicious OG (Organo Gold) products.**

From there we will hit the trails for a little while, have some fun and after we return, we'll have a complimentary tour of the museum.

Looking forward to seeing you all and closing out our 2013 Spring - Fall Season! ~ H4L

Haunted Hike with Hike4Life and YPN-ULEM

Thank you to everyone that made it out with us. We had "13" fearless folks that braved the really dark and at times frightening wilderness at Franklin Park. A Big Thank you to Rachelle N Villarson & Charlene Luma of Young Professionals Network of the ULEM, for partnering with Hike4Life once again for another great event. Every one did a great job!

Hike4Life & Mattapan Food & Fitness Coalition: Urban Hiking!

What an amazing day! Hike4Life had our very first "urban hike" with the wonderful folks of the Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition. Mattapan was absolutely beautiful and welcoming to it's streets. Neighbors stopped and stared at our group, passerby's in cars waved at some of us and we all had a great time with each other. Thank you to everyone that made it out and made the trek with us. See you at our next event!
If you're interested in learning about hiking and finding out if you have it in you to be a Hike4Lifer, please join us on Thursdays for our afterwork Hiking 101 hikes at Franklin Park.  Sunday 101 dates are T.B.A.
Look who's joining us on April 13th!!!

Hike the Black Heritage Trail®

Hike4Life will turn in our boots for sneakers to visit the Black Heritage Trail® on
Saturday May 4th, 2013

Hike4Lifers will go on a guided tour throughout the streets of Boston that were once walked by our first ancestors to this city. We’ll make stops at historic landmarks that tell the story of Boston’s dark past.

Trek with us on roads laid in brick by former slaves and touch the old oil lampposts that line the trail. Walk where Frederick Douglas walked, where the Massachusetts 54th marched and where former slaves hid from Slave Catchers.

The Black Heritage Trail® explores the history of the 19th century free Black community of Boston. The trail consists of 14 sites and begins at the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial on Beacon Street.

Tours are 90 minutes long.

If our group exceeds 15 we'll have to break into two groups. One group will go on the 12PM tour and the second group will go at 2PM.

We'll meet at the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial which is right in front of the State House (Golden Dome)

                      2013 Hike4Life Season Opening Hike

It’s become tradition for Hike4Life members and friends to kick off a new year’s Hiking season with a memorable hike through the Blue Hills. This will be another year of great hikes, great people and great opportunities. We’ve put together a great group of people to help make this a successful year.

We’re looking forward to adding more friends, family, supporters and volunteers to our Team!

Our first hike of 2013 will be the kick off to another great year. We’re going to meet at location 1203 (Border Path) on your Blue Hills Reservation Map.

You can find it here at:

I was tempted to put in GPS coordinates but, I don’t have them.

From there we'll tackle a couple of hills right from the road and continue on the trail upward and around the best the Hills has to offer.

I ask everyone to bring water/food so we can make a day of our first day this year together in the woods. Hopefully the weather will be favorable. I will update the invitation as we get closer to the date. Please invite your friends, let them know about Hike4Life and share with stories and pictures of our previous adventures.

See You In April!

Peace & Blessings
